Quickly, name six men you know.
Did you know that one out of every six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime? And unless we can find a cure, prostate cancer could impact your life, or the life of someone you love this year.
I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1999, and soon learned that because of the genetic nature of this disease, my sons face a 33% greater probability of developing it too.
This is not the legacy I want to leave my sons.
So, I did what any man would do when the health, security and peace of his family is threatened, I rose up and took action to eliminate the threat to my sons, my grandsons ...and to generations of men I will never know.
Unlike most foundations formed around medical causes, I’m not looking for breakthrough treatments, new surgical techniques or the next best medication to control the effects of this disease.
Tony's Prostate Cancer Research was established to raise awareness and support the work of individual Research Scientists focused on discovering a non-invasive cure for prostate cancer. Thanks to the generous people of Houston, Tony’s Prostate Cancer Research foundation has raised approximately $2.7 million dollars to fund this groundbreaking work. Promising strides have been made with the discovery of a protein known as GLIPR1! (see Latest News From the Lab).
Read on and you’ll find information, inspiration and meaningful opportunities for you to get involved in making prostate cancer history. You'll also learn that, thanks to the research we support, we are closer each day to the discovery of a preventive vaccine and a non-invasive cure for prostate cancer, Dr. Timothy Thompson's research and testing of the GLIPR1 protein has been so effective towards eradicating cancer in a laboratory setting, that we’re on course to go to clinical trials in 12 to 18 months!
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support in spreading the word that there is hope for a cure within our lifetime.
